We all love to be entertained. We love to ride the roller coaster of emotions that different forms of entertainment take us on. We should love it! It is healthy. Like all other things in life, entertainment is subject to moderation.
How much is too much? Is it beginning to take away from other areas in your life that are unfulfilled?
Is it the best kind of entertainment? Should I be reading a good book instead of scrolling endlessly on this phone for my next dopamine hit?
For the next week, try and make at least one decision a day that will benefit you more in the long term than in the short term. For example, you’re about to pick up your phone to watch more YouTube or scroll Facebook, but realize that you’ve probably had enough entertainment today and haven’t had enough exercise. So, you decide to go for a walk around your block instead.
Maybe you’re about to turn on the TV for your entertainment for the day, but realize that you haven’t started that book you’ve been wanting to read that you’ve heard so many good things about. So, you decide to spend the next hour reading. (Which, by the way, can be entertaining and educational!)
If you can begin making at least one of these a day for a while, a good habit may result.
